By Funadiq Team

As 2025 begins, Muslims from all around the world are eager to know about the exact dates for the Umrah pilgrimage, particularly the Umrah closure months in 2025. Understanding the entry and exit deadlines for the Umrah journey is crucial to planning your spiritual journey.

Saudi Arabia has officially announced the entry and exit deadlines for Umrah visa holders. Umrah pilgrims coming to Saudi Arabia must follow the entry and exit dates to ensure a seamless Umrah journey.

According to the latest circular from the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GASA) the timeline is as follows:

  • Last Entry Date: 15th of Shawwal 1446 (corresponding to 15h April 2025)

  • Last Exit Date: 1st of Dhu al-Qi’dah 1446 (corresponding to 29th April 2025)

The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah strictly instructed that all travelers should complete the visa formalities before the deadlines and follow the prescribed travel arrangements.

What Should Umrah Travelers Do?

The Ministry of Umrah of Saudi Arabia has advised Umrah pilgrims to follow the guidelines strictly.

  • Plan Umrah well before Shawwal 15 to avoid travel disruptions.

  • Complete all visa and travel documentation requirements before the deadline

  • Strictly follow the Umrah entry and exit date

  • Ensure departure before Dhu al-Qi’dah 1 to comply with regulations.

All travel agents should guide their clients about these Umrah entry and exit deadlines to prevent last-minute inconveniences.

Why Does Saudi Arabia Stop Umrah Before Hajj?

Every year, millions of pilgrims visit Saudi Arabia for Umrah, particularly huge crowds that can be seen in Ramadan. But as Hajj approaches, the government imposes restrictions. Here’s why:

  1. Crowd Management: The massive crowd of both Umrah and Hajj pilgrims can cause overcrowding in the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah. Restricting Umrah pilgrims ensures a smoother experience for Hajj pilgrims.

  1. Logistics & Security: Given the large Hajj scale, it requires extensive logistical arrangements, including accommodation, transportation, and security measures. Clearing Umrah pilgrims is essential to create space for Hajj participants, allowing authorities to concentrate fully on Hajj arrangements and deliver an organized and efficient experience.

  1. Health & Safety: Managing millions of people in confined spaces like Makkah and Madinah can increase health risks. By restricting Umrah pilgrims, authorities can ensure a safer environment for Hajj pilgrims.

  1. Hotel & Transport Availability: Many hotels and transport services shift their focus to Hajj-specific needs. As Hajj involves constant transfer from one site to another. Restricting Umrah during this period prevents transportation and accommodation shortages.

Saudi Arabia’s structured approach ensures that both Umrah and Hajj pilgrims receive the best experience while maintaining order in the Holy Cities.
